Peru is by far the best trip I’ve ever been on. Usually I’m not really an outdoorsy kind of girl but my fiance, David, was able to persuade me to go on one of his “dream trips”. Inspired by nature, and maybe was born as a monkey in his past life, David just loves to climb whether it’s trees or mountains. Wanted to be super compact and practical, he gave me exactly 1 Osprey backpack for my entire 7 days trip abroad.
Arriving in Cusco, first thing is you have to get adjusted to the high altitude (Cusco is sitting pretty at 11,152 feet above sea level). They even give out free coco tea leaves at the airport and most hotels would have it as well in their lobby. The idea is you shouldn’t be doing any strenuous activities over the next 12 -24 hours. Walk slow, take it easy, no jumping, no shouting! We had no problem with the altitude sickness at all when we were there.
